An anthrax case was detected in Bolnisi Municipality village of Tandzia, three people were infected. An infected animal was slaughtered by a citizen without veterinary surveillance bypassing the slaughterhouse. Part of the meat was distributed among relatives and part was probably sold. Above mentioned case is being researched by specialists.

Regarding meat traders protest in Gurjaani, demanding to have the right to slaughter animals and sell the meat bypassing slaughterhouses, National Food Agency declares, that it will not allow a certain group of people to trade on the market by risking public health. In order to provide society with safe meat products it is necessary that animals should be slaughtered in a slaughterhouse under the surveillance of a veterinary doctor, who issues appropriate document (Form N2) confirming that the food is safe for human consumumption.

National Food Agency has launched forced vaccination against rabies in Kakheti. Immunization process has been attended by Mikheil Sokhadze, Deputy Head of the Agency.

A presentation has been conducted on achieving and maintaining veterinary reliability and general concepts to fight against epizooties.  

Mr. David Koberidze, head of National Food Agency and Mr. Tengiz Kurashvili, Professor, Doctor of Veterinary Science and member of Science Academy have attended vaccination against Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) in Tsalka Municipality.  

LEPL National Food Agencyof Georgia (NFA) continues prophylactic vaccination against especially dangerous animal disease- Food and Mouse Disease (FMD).  At this stage, 243,502 animals are already vaccinated throughout the whole country.

In the frame of free vaccination state program NFA has started prophylactic vaccination against especially hazardous Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD). Immunization will be carried out on 922,330 heads of cattle country-wide. Mr. David Koberidze, head of NFA, has attended vaccination in village Tserovani, Mtskheta Municipality.    

In the frame of free vaccination state program NFA brought 143,000 doses of anti- FMD vaccine and required equipment for immunization to Kvemo kartli region.

Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Zaza Gorozia and Head of NFA, Mr. David Koberidze have visited Taribana spring pastures to see pre-export preparations and attended the process of exporting another lot of sheep to Israel.
