NFA Phytosanitary Department representatives have participated a conference in Geneve on April 26-May 11 2013. The conference was attended by 2000 delegates from 170 countries and 80 ministers.
NFA destroyed 25t. of potatoes imported from Turkey, which was diseased by the especially dangerous quarantine pest "Synchytrium endobioticum".

Treatment against Fall Webworm continues in Western Georgia

LEPL National Food Agency (NFA) continues chemical and biological treatment against second generation of Fall Webworm – dangerous quarantine pest – in Samegrelo, Guria and Adjara Regions. At this stage, 12,883 ha of land have been treated in these three regions. The treatment is still in progress.

NFA has started aviation treatment against second generation of Fall Webworm – especially hazardous pest – in Lanchkhuti and Ozurgeti Municipalities. 200ha of affected land have been treated in villages Supsa and Natanebi.
NFA Plant protection specialists have conducted extensive inventarization on the storehouse of used pesticides on the territory of Sachkhere Municipality.
NFA has finished aviation treatment against dangerous pest - locust in Eastern Georgia. Overall, 8470 ha of land have been treated in Kakheti, Kvemo Kartli and Shida Kartli municipalities at this stage.
NFA has finished treatment against the first generation of fall webworm in Western Georgia. 18967ha of effected land were treated in high dissemination areas.

NFA continues treatment against dangerous pest - locust in the regions of Kakheti, Shida Kartli and Kvemo Kartli. By the time being 7200 hectares of land has been treated.
